Threads is designed to create a community within a shared residence at university.
I felt that using my experience of coming to university would be extremely helpful, as I know my target audience very well.
Threads will act as an icebreaker and a platform to assist students with everyday tasks, such as reserving a washing machine, booking an appointment with maintenance or getting help if they are locked out.
Students go about their daily lives living with 100s of other people they never communicate with. I wanted to design an app that can create a community for 1st year students, allowing them to meet people they might not meet otherwise – creating friendships with more than just the flat mates they are put with.
Creating a social platform with practical uses keeps my idea connected to a particular building, differentiating itself from other existing apps and makes that big step of moving to university a little easier.
