Boon is a digital platform that revolutionises the traditional system of loyalty cards by connecting clients with retailers, delivering personalised offers and rewards to user's fingertips. The Boon application aims to solve the current surplus of loyalty cards that provide a lack of customer awareness about the benefits available to them. There is often an irrelevance of offers, vouchers or discounts to customers and there is also the potential to lose physical loyalty cards and any points collected. The application gives retailers an opportunity to learn about customer behaviour and use the data to provide a personalised service with tailored offers, potentially leading to increased revenue. Boon better connects businesses with their customers. In terms of profit for the application, Boon requires that businesses that wish to be featured pay a premium. With my concept I aimed to build brand awareness and loyalty for businesses, also offering value to customers through ease of shopping and targeted offers.

Boon exploits beacon and NFC technology to provide direct benefits to the user. The beacon technology provides proximity-based notifications of and the NFC capability would allow users to collect points with one touch on a capable smartphone. Application features:

Multiple loyalty cards stored in one convenient location.
Placing the smartphone against an NFC card reader collects loyalty points easily.
Loyalty cards for the correct store are opened automatically when you get close to a checkout.
Real-time offers when you pass or enter a store.
Learns about your shopping habits, allowing you to receive offers and discounts that are relevant to you.
Reminders to use the points or vouchers available to you when you enter appropriate stores.
Notifications that inform you of when it is possible to use points from other businesses in different stores.
Once you build up enough points for a voucher in one store, it can be swapped for use within other partnered businesses.

Because users must have the app and opt in to share their location in order to receive proximity-triggered push messages, there is a very good opportunity for promotion. The application exploits the opportunity to reach the users in ways that are relevant to where they are and what's near them. Ideally, the application would collect data analytics and utilise algorithms to display the user's preferences and likes in a compelling way. This could then encourage users to spend more on the products they love and the companies could use these patterns to target users with specific offers. Shops and businesses can choose the products and points that will be given as rewards, and adjust the spending threshold that the customers will reach. The Boon Loyalty application is designed to make the shopping experience more seamless for the user, reducing the current inconvenience and uncertainty about loyalty cards, while also providing a viable business case for participating businesses.
