The Brief

This was a group project I worked on along side Sam Truman and Sam Pollard. The brief was to design a digital game which connects with a wider social purpose. The aim of the design is to address a social need or communicate a subject or issue in an engaging way. The engagement and activity of game play can help users imagine and re-evaluate situations to encourage the user to think about the world in a new way.

The Outcome

Based on the brief we decided to create a rocket launch game which would educate children. The children that would use the game would learn different facts about space and also learn the responsibility of spending a certain amount of money to make upgrades to make the best rocket possible. The better the rocket the more you discover. The launch works off a screen tap with the higher percentage of launch resulting in a higher height reached. The upgrades on each part of the rocket have different statistics, this allows the user to create different rockets. Another feature is the characters you see on the game. The user gets to choose their astronaut and mechanic. Keeping the game personal to the user was the best way to keep them engaged rather than having the game one long chronological play through.

This is the screen flow for the app, this shows all of the ways the screens will link to each other and how the game will play.
